IT'S EASY TO SEE HOW
Our Sheds are BETTER!
At Better Built Sheds, quality isn’t an option or an upgrade. It’s our standard. We don’t cut corners. All of our sheds are built with high-quality materials and are constructed using up to 25% more lumber than the competition. That is why we confidently offer a 5-year structural warranty on all of our new sheds.
All Better Built sheds are built with:
4x6 Pressure Treated Notched Runners

Why it's important:
Runners run the length of the shed and provide a base for the floor joists to rest on. Because they form the foundation of the shed, it is crucial to have strong and sturdy runners. Notches on the runners allow the joists to be consistently spaced, creating a more secure and square base. 4x6 runners provide more support compared to 4x4 runners, which some shed manufacturers use. Because the runners sometimes touch the ground, it is important that they are pressure-treated to resist decay. Strong, treated runners create a durable base for a long-lasting shed.
16" On Center 2x6 Pressure Treated Floor Joists

Why it's important:
Better Built Sheds uses 2x6 joists as our standard on every build from 8x8 to 16x40. Our competitors use 2x4s, with 2x6s being an upgrade. Additionally, all of our shed joists are 16" on center for added strength. All joists are made with pressure-treated lumber to resist fungal decay and termite damage. For heavy-duty uses, we offer an upgrade to 12” on center joists. This increases the live load from 150 psf to 270 psf. Please see our Build Upgrades page for more information relating to allowable floor loads and upgrade options.
5/8" LP ProStruct Tongue and Groove Flooring with SmartFinish

Why it's important:
LP ProStruct flooring with SmartFinish is a durable engineered wood flooring specifically designed for sheds. The surface is treated with SmartFinish, which provides a knot and void-free surface. Not only does this finish provide a finished look to the shed, but it also makes clean-up easier. Additionally, it resists fungal decay and termites. Backed by a 1/10 year limited warranty, this flooring option is the gold standard of shed floors. All Better Built Sheds come standard with 5/8" tongue and groove LP ProStruct flooring. We offer an upgrade to 3/4" LP ProStruct Flooring for heavy-duty uses. This increases the live load from 150 psf to 240 psf. Please see our Build Upgrades page for more information relating to allowable floor loads and upgrade options.
16" On Center 2x4 Wall Studs

Why it's important:
At Better Built Sheds, we use 2x4 studs in all our sheds. Additionally, all of our shed walls are framed 16" on center. This creates a stronger support system for the roof and adds to the overall sturdiness of the shed. Some companies may use 1x3 studs or frame 24" on center to cut corners, but we use more lumber to build better sheds that last longer.
Finished Inside Corners

Why it's important:
We use an additional stud at each corner where the walls of the shed are joined. This strengthens the corners of the shed and creates a finished seam.
3/8" LP SmartSide with SilverTech Radiant Barrier OR

Why it's important:
LP SmartSide panel siding with SilverTech is a durable engineered wood siding solution for sheds. SmartSide panels are treated with SmartGuard, which helps resist fungal decay and termites. The exterior side is free of knots, patches, and face voids, and resists splitting and cracking. The interior features a radiant barrier that creates a clean and bright appearance inside the shed. Backed by a 5/50 year limited warranty, this siding option is the perfect choice to create an aesthetic, durable shed.
5/8" Pressure Treated T1-11 Siding

Why it's important:
T1-11 siding is a popular choice for shed siding, offering a rustic appearance. We use pressure-treated T1-11, which resists termites and fungal decay. All Better Built T1-11 buildings come standard with Cedar stain/sealer. Pressure-treated T1-11 lumber has a Limited Lifetime warranty against termite damage and fungal decay.
Gable End Vents

Why it's important:
All Better Built sheds come standard with two vents. Placed on each gable end, these vents allow for air circulation and help regulate temperatures during the summer.
Vent appearance may vary by building style.
Double Top Plate Header System

Why it's important:
Better Built sheds are constructed with a header system to enhance the strength of the walls that support the roof trusses. We add an additional 2x6 on top of the walls running the length of the building. This creates a double layer of lumber to better support the roof trusses and creates an eave overhang on each side of the building.
16" On Center 2x4 Trusses

Why it's important:
Trusses, which support the roof of the shed, are important to the overall structural integrity of a shed. That is why we use 2x4s placed 16" on center for every roof, versus 24" on center used by the competition. Additionally, we use pressed truss plates to assemble our trusses. Because of our build quality and truss system, our sheds meet and exceed the Virginia Snow 30 PSF and 90 MPH wind requirements.
29 Gauge Metal Roof OR

Why it's important:
Our metal roofs are made of residential-grade 29-gauge galvalume steel, painted with a premium paint system to create long-lasting colors. This durable roof option is available in 24 colors and covered by a 40-year limited manufacturer warranty.
Residential Architectural Shingles

Why it's important:
Our shingle roofs are made of residential-grade architectural shingles. Available in 3 colors, these shingles are backed by a 12/50 limited manufacturer warranty.
